| Andy
Packer was educated at a Secondary
Modern school and High School Sixth Form in Kent, before going
on to read Social Studies at Liverpool Polytechnic and take
his PGCE at Goldsmith’s College, London.
His teaching career
began with thirteen years in Inner London, where he took on
both curricular and pastoral responsibilities and helped to
develop Integrated Humanities programmes.
He moved to St.
John’s School, Marlborough in the early nineties, as
a Head of Year in the Upper School. In 1998, he became Assistant
Headteacher and Head of the Lower School, on its separate
site, where he worked with a dedicated team to revitalise
the learning and pastoral environment.
He joined Tim Small
in 2001 as Deputy Head at he Stonehenge School, Amesbury and
was appointed to succeed him as Head that September.
Recognising the importance of teamwork in school improvement
and transformation, he and his staff have taken the school
to new heights of success, adding nearly 20% to the GCSE higher
grades score in only two years.
It is Andy’s
personal conviction that a school can only fulfil its true
potential when it is fully integrated with its own, wider
community.
