A support service for leaders working to an overcrowded
agenda. A collaboration of like-minded professionals who understand
the need for inner personal space, to grow and transform themselves
and their life's work. A network of inspiration and ideas.
aHead-Space provides support, spiritual refreshment
and a way ahead, especially for people in education and other public
services, whose inner space, identity, well-being, has been invaded
by an external agenda: who need to regain possession of their own
purpose and creativity. We seek to develop personal responsibility
through empowerment within a framework of shared human values. In
short, we nurture inspirational leadership.
How aHead-Space began
aHead-Space was originally formed as an education consultancy by
Tim Small in 2001, when he left his Headship at The Stonehenge School,
Amesbury.
For two years, he worked independently in a number
of contexts, supporting Headteachers, Senior Management Teams and
Governors, starting his own research and speaking to audiences across
the UK.
In 2003 he developed the
concept of Space
for Transformation,
to offer school leaders the kind of support he had valued most as
a Head (and for which he saw a growing need): space to reflect on
the intra- and inter-personal challenges of leadership, with someone
who understands the job. It was an extension of his lifelong commitment
to empowering learners and developing capacity for personal responsibility.
He invited a group of people, who share these
values and have a range of experience and skills far wider than
his own, to contribute to the support service that aHead-Space
has become. See Who we are >
